I think you should let us work on our projects now so that you can give us feedback. I also think that instead of making us read how to make our presentation better we should work on them so you can come and tell how to make it better.
I liked how we got to make elevation speeches but it didn't seem like it was forced and it should have been, what I mean by this is that you told us to write an elevation speech but when you said they were due and someone didn't have there's done, you didn't really care which isn't fair on the rest of us because we put a lot of time and effort into our speeches and some people didn't even bother because it wasn't "mandatory". I am not trying to be rude by saying all these things because I know you put a lot of effort into this course but I am just trying to give feedback. Also it was hard to hear you at sometimes. For the learning purpose, I did learn a lot about presentations through the readings also reading the speech to the class and then getting feedback was good as well. There was a lot of reading though and I would like it if you talked it through with us and had more interaction with the class
Today was the first day of our mini enrichment course. There was a lot of new materials that we covered. Through all of the reading that was assigned, I learned new ways on not only how to better a presentation, but how to write a more structurally sound one. Through fair criticism I learned to deliver an effective presentation that demands the audience’s attention. All in all, I have high hopes for this class, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings.
Yesterday was the first day of the mini-enrichment course. We started off with introductions, and then read a lot of material on public speaking, power point and elevator speeches. We were told to think of a presentation topic by the end of lunch. After the break, we read tips and examples of elevator speeches. Then, we had about 30-45 to write our own elevator speeches on the topic we each chose. Finally, most of us presented our speeches, though some people are going to present today.
I learned alot of things such as - the pros and cons of powerpoint - how to make a speech effective - how to structure a presentation - what elevator speeches are and tips to write them well and a lot more.
In general, i like the stuff that we learned in the course, but there was a lot more individual work then I had expected. I work better when interact with others, and it was mainly silent throughout the day. I would find it more enjoyable if we stopped doing a lot of reading, and started to work together more. I get that we don't know each other, but we can do some ice breaker games to fix that. Over all, I like the course and you seem to want everyone to really enjoy it.
There was a lot more reading than I'd expected, but I did learn some thins about presentations that I never knew like how to keep the audience interested and what my presentation should look like.
On the first day of our course we spent most of it reading pages of books explaining sales strategies and how to keep your audience engaged. The first day was like a warm-up to the skills we will need to make our presentation have an impact. The skills we've learnt have been relevant and I hope to apply them in my presentation. We also wrote an elevator speech about our topic of choice for our presentation. The only feedback I have is that sometimes it was unclear what we were supposed to be doing and some of the things we read were repeating tips we ad already gone over. Overall this course isn't what I expected but I am still learning a fair amount about presenting.
Yesterday, we read some useful material on how to make your presentation unique and different. I realized that when making a presentation you need to be passionate and/or concerned about your topic. I also learned the importance of a good elevator speech. An elevator speech is a short way to invite, and intrigue people to watch your presentation. It reminds me of a "back of the book" summary. As an introvert this course is very useful for me, and I will definitely be using these tips and tricks in the future.
Yesterday was the first day of Mini Enrichment. In the morning we were introduced to the teacher and we started to read online about making a presentation and the different factors of writing. We learned about body language in a presentation, how to start off a presentation's introduction, what to eat and drink before the presentation, how to make your presentation more exciting and lots more. I found the afternoon more interesting as we had a chance to start writing our Elevator speeches.
There was a lot of individual work and personally I like interacting and working together with other people. I think that it would be good if we could do an activity in a group or something similar so we can talk to our class mates and meet new people. Also at times I found the readings a little complicating as there were so many. Other that that, I'm liking the course.
The coarse was described very differently than it is. There is so much reading and so many pages to get through in a very short amount of time. The papers you gave us said that we would be watching videos but we did not do any of that it was all just reading.
This course wasn't what I expected when I read the description of the course. But I have been enjoying it and have been learning a decent amount of things about improving my presentations since its only the first day. The reading was a bit much in my eyes, but it had very good interesting facts that i can and will apply in my future presentations. I didn't really understand why we did the elevator speech, because i don't see myself making in my every day life, or when I'm working in the future. The elevator speech was still fun to write something up like the elevator speech because its very different from the presentation and it's good to know some facts and perks about it if i ever have to use it in my future.
The first day of this course was a lot more relaxed than I thought it would be. We did a lot of reading about business and talking. I already learned some new things about how to act while giving a presentation (body language). In the next couple of days, I'd like to do less reading, and more talking / writing. Instead of putting all of our time towards one big presentation, I think that it would be more enjoyable to do mini projects or something of that sort. Like one of the other students, I think that the class isn't as engaged because we have to do a lot of our reading alone, so it gets boring. If you were to go over more concepts with us, then the class would be more enjoyable for everyone. By the end of this course, the one thing I really hope that we learn how to effectively use PowerPoint.
The first day of EMCP was exciting and informative. We got in the class and all introduced ourselves. We were given pages to read. We read about different techniques to use during a presentation, and while writing a presentation. Then spoke about them in class. One example of something that I learned was that not only do you have to act confident and relaxed while you present. You should also be confident before and after your presentation. Even before you start speaking you need to give a great first impression. We were informed of the different words that are used to persuade others during a presentation. Such as: easy, proven, results, discovered and much more. Finally we were taught how to make and present an elevator speech. An elevator speech is a brief representation of your presentation. You have to clearly and briefly summarize your presentation as if you were trying to explain it to someone in an elevator. I have been taught many things so far, and I am excited for the rest of the week.
I definitely learned a couple of things during our first day at EMCP; for example, i learned how to read at a speed witch people can under stand me, I also learned how to interact with the people that I'm Speaking with during my presentation
Overall this course so far was OK. There were multiple pros and cons. First of I will talk about the issues/cons. I found the title of this course very misleading, at first it seemed like a course about acting or directing. But when I got here I realized this course was just how to make a PowerPoint presentation better. Second I find that Alin confused a lot of people including me when it came to directions and what to do, half of the time people were doing the wrong thing. Third, he did not teach us much himself he made us read a lot of books and writings which as far as I know are not our level (They were a little difficult to read). And finnaly, Alin was a bit disorganized and a lot of stuff he wanted to show us, did not happen. At least for right now.
Now for the positive points/pros. This course did teach me about how to do a proper presentation and how to capture someones attention which is pretty cool, and can be useful for the future. The computers/programs seem to be nice and organized ready for use. Alin is a very nice teacher and I see he puts a lot of effort into his courses which is great!
That's it for my review/feedback. Overall I would give this course a 65% maybe a bit higher. Like I said the course was OK.
Today, we learned about making a connection with your audience. You want to introduce them to a hero (this can be you or someone else) and you want to make the audience feel sympathetic towards this hero.
I liked that we were given time to work on our presentations. I also liked watching the videos, and receiving feedback from you. Overall today's class was efficient and engaging.
May 3rd, Today was probably the best so far. We watched some videos and talked about them, and I learned a lot. Alin explained them too. Today we also kept working on our presentations which is great and also gave feedback to other classmates. Alin is a super nice teacher, and the class is nice too! We did not have much reading compared to the other days which is great.
I enjoyed the second and third day more than the first. We watched more videos, talked more, had individual help, less reading and more collaboration. There is really no more suggestions that I have, but having a few breaks (10 minute breaks) in the day would be nice.
The videos we watched were very helpful. It was simple and easy to follow. I will definitely be using the tips and tricks we learned in that video in the future. We read a few things and Aline explained them to us afterwards, which was very helpful!
yesterday was the best day so far. we watched some videos while Alin explained them. The way hes adapted and changed the course for us has made much more enjoyable. Alin has made this course tons of fun. The only thing i'm not understanding is why we need a "hero" in an informative presentation.
I definitely liked the second and the third day a lot more than the first. I liked how we were able to get feedback from our classmates and got to know new people by doing so. I like how we are being given feedback. I would like the course to continue to be fun and interactive between students so we get to know our classmates better.
The class has gotten a lot better and I am enjoying it. I liked watching the videos and discussing them and think we should do more of that today. I am learning a lot from this class and I think its great!
Today was better than the first. There was a lot less readings. There was more discussions which was good. we watched a few videos, they were very interesting. Everything was good today. Overall everything was inserting and better than before.
We learned some good new things about power point and certain things that are especially good and bad which i learned a lot from but it hasn't been exactly exciting because all we basically do is sit at our desks and work on our presentations or read, sometimes we watch a video and Alin explains certain parts of it, but we don't even have class discussions so i would've appreciate it if we would've done a bit more fun activities and have class discussions but we can't really change that now since its thursday
Today I learned how important giving a strong presentation can be. One thing that I did not know is that you predicted that Donald Trump would win the election solely based upon his presentation style. This just solidifies that through a strong presence and body language, anything can be accomplished through a great presentation. I am hoping to apply these skills into my own speech to make my presentation just as influential.
Yesterday was better than the first few days, The course is a lot better now and is also easier to stay awake in. I think we need to watch more of the voice and the x factor, that part was fun :)
I think that we should have more time to work on our projects today, and try to complete with the advice you give us on our presentations. I also think that the focus today should be on our presentations getting finished.
I enjoyed Wednesday's course much more then Tuesday's and Monday's, as it was more interactive. I think this course would be a lot better if we held more discussions and the class was more vivid.
Yesterday's course was a lot of fun. I liked watching Shark Tank and the discussion about it. We had the perfect mix of working and interacting. Plus, I really appreciated the break - thanks for the Tim Horton's! I can tell that you really want this course to go well and that you care about it.
Yesterday was really fun! We had more time to work on our presentations and we watched a couple of videos and learned some tips. As we were working on our presentations Alin would come around to give us feedback which was very useful! Yesterday was very productive!!
Thursday was really fun. We analyzed a video from shark tank which was really fun. It was a lot more interactive which was great too. Alin gave great advice about our presentation which was really beneficial. The class discussion was really good too because not a lot of people talk in our class. Overall the way Alin has adapted this course for us has been amazing.
I really enjoyed yesterday, it was really fun because we interacted more and we got to watch shark tank which helps us for our presentations but also is a very fun show to watch, then we had a little class discussion that i enjoyed because a lot of people don't really talk to each other or just in general. At the end of thye day we went to go get something small from Tim Hortons and had the day free time which i thought nwas really nice, And Alin your a god for getting me a muffin
Yesterday was really good, we worked on our presentations, talked about different things, and reviewed a shark tank presentor. Alin talked and explained a lot of stuff and he is a pretty good teacher
This is a great course. it has gotten so much better since the first day. I have learned many useful tips and gathered lots of information about making good presentations. I think this will help me a lot in the future. Thank You.
